Quick Tip Tuesday - Inks

Today is a reminder to make sure you know which type of ink you are using:  dye based or pigment based.  Pigment ink is great when you want something permanent and water-resistant.  These would include alcohol inks and markers as well as archival ink (as pictured).

Dye based inks are blendable (such as distress inks) and will wash right off a stencil.  I love the results, but the purple will always be on my stencil. It's not a big deal. And I can still use it.

I just should have thought about it first.  Lesson learned!

Wishing You a Happy, Healthy New Year

Happy New Year!  I'm feeling under the weather, so this will be short.  We had a great Christmas with lots of family and a quiet new year.  We didn't even hear too many fireworks.  How about you?

This year, I'd like to grow my little craft blog a bit, so if you know someone who likes crafting, I'd appreciate a shout-out. (And by crafting, I mean any and all crafts from painting, to faux leather, to acrylic, to sewing, card-making, scrapbooking, and so on.)

Here are some of my favorite crafting tips.  Feel free to share!

And now, moving on...

This may or may not seem funny, but I love
Harry Potter, so I had to include it!

Crafty Christmas

Welcome to my little craft blog.  I'm so excited for family to come over and see all of the fun things I've made for Christmas this year.  It's been so much fun putting things together.  One of my favorites is this "Be Merry" banner designed by Gina at Gina C Creates.

Another favorite is this gift bag with a pick closure designed by Jennifer Maker.  It is made entirely out of card stock, but it's sturdy (sturdier than many of my store-bought bags)!

Maybe next year I will design some cool Christmas items myself!  Now on to some giggles.

How about you?  With me?

But aren't they cute?

This cracked me up!

Being practical never hurts!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today, and don't forget to visit Happy Tuesday and Random Tuesday Thoughts.

Happy Christmas!

A little Random

Welcome!  I hope you're doing well today!

Have you finished your Christmas shopping? (That is, if you participate.)  I believe I am finished, except for a couple of gift cards I need to pick up.  It's been a long time since I was finished shopping this early!  Now if I can get my wrapping done before Christmas Eve this year, that will be an accomplishment!  Last year, I was still wrapping gifts on Christmas Eve and that was awful!

I'm attempting to do as many things "homemade" as possible. My handmade cards are ready to be mailed.

I have made some drawstring gift bags, treat boxes, candy holders, and gift tags.

I believe I'm going to need a lot more gift tags, so I better get busy!  Christmas is at my home this year since Mom is in Memory Care very near to where I live, and she can't travel long distances, so I've also got a menu to plan.  I love Christmas!

And moving on... how about some funnies?  This one cracked me up!

And this is so true!

If only my children were still little!  LOL

Have a Little Craftiness Today

Hey crafty friends!  I'm still trying to adjust to the time change!  How about you?

This is so me!!!!

This past week I tried out two new products.  First was Hero Arts wax.  I used a stencil that mimics candy canes but is more pink than red. The second product was Simon Hurley Lunar Paste in a gold, metallic color, so I used an ornament stencil.  After they dried, I added a sentiment and an offset using foam squares

There isn't much difference in the feel of each of these products.  They both have a smooth, creamy texture, and they don't take as long to dry as I thought they would.  They have a nice shine, too.  Have you been up to anything crafty lately?

How about a few laughs?

Have a crafty week!

Creepy or Cute

With Halloween around the corner, I thought I'd ask, what type of decorations do you prefer?  Creepy or cute?  I definitely prefer cute.

I'm not big on horror movies, either.  How about you?

I've actually been crafting for Christmas (my favorite holiday).  Here is a card you will see in my Etsy shop in a few days. There will be a set of 4 with 4 different "stained glass" scenes.

How about some humor?

I LOOOOVE Harry Potter!!!!!

Refreshed and Ready to Craft!

Hello!  I am back from vacation, feeling refreshed, and I'm ready to get my craft on!  We went on a cruise with my sister and her husband.  They have been on at least 50 cruises.  Us?  Not so much.  Five or six, I think.  I get seasick and have to wear a patch and chew Dramamine, but it works, and I was able to have fun.  Now back to reality and back to CrAfTiNg!

I feel like I've missed so much!  Did you catch Abbi Kirsten's Holiday Cricut Craftfest?  What about Justine Hovey and Laurel Beard's Stress-free Cardmaking Summit?  And Jennifer Maker just announced her Maker Academy. These ladies are some of the gurus of the paper-crafting community.  There is ALWAYS something new to learn, and I'm ready with my all-access passes!

Don't forget that this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Ladies, do your self-exam and get your mammograms on schedule.  Early detection is a life-saver!

And today and tomorrow are Big Deal Days on Amazon in case you're interested.  I'm checking out some deals on toys for the grandbabies (like this year's holiday Barbie - oh, wait, that would be for me! LOL) as well as a treat or two for myself like these new Christmas ornaments and this Echo Dot at an incredible price!  But I digress...

Can't wait to get crafty again!  I've already started some sewing projects.  Tomorrow is going to be my Cricut day, and I'll be posting more items on Etsy soon.  Btw, Etsy is doing a promotion for the next two days:  $10 off any order of $40 or more.  That's 25%!  Off everything!

Now go have a happy, crafty week!

Link up with Stacy and Sandee for a whole lot of fun!  Have a wonderful week, my friends!

Pinner's Conf.

 Hello, and welcome!

I spent my birthday weekend in Dallas with one of our daughters and her husband.  My daughter and I attended Pinner's Conference in Fort Worth on Friday.

It's not just for people on Pinterest! If you like to craft, bake, paint, sew, or even if you just like to support small businesses, then this would be a place you'd love.  There were over 200 booths with everything from craft kits, to spices and other food products, beauty products to clothing.  There were also over 100 classes in so many different topics, not just crafts, but personal growth, baking, sewing, health and beauty,  home decor, and so much more!  We took two classes, did a couple of make-and-takes, and shopped.  We will definitely go next year if it's feasible.

Moving right along...

The coffee defies gravity!
