Quick Tip Tuesday: Mixing Patterned Papers Without Clashing

Mixing patterned papers can add color, depth, and personality to your scrapbook pages and cards—but too many competing designs can feel overwhelming.

Start with one patterned paper you love and use its colors to guide your other choices. Then mix patterns of different sizes: pair one bold, large-scale design with a medium pattern and a smaller, more subtle print. For example, try large flowers with narrow stripes and tiny dots.

Repeating at least one or two colors throughout the papers will help everything feel connected. If the patterns still seem too busy, add solid cardstock or a little white space between them to give your eyes a place to rest.

The patterns don’t need to match perfectly—they just need a shared color palette and a good balance of bold and simple designs.
