Quick Tip Tuesday - Find Your People

 I just returned from a craft retreat, and it was awesome.  It's great to have dedicated time to work on projects as well as other people to craft along with.  This was an in-person event, but there are also online Facebook groups, websites, craft summits, and memberships available.

Don’t craft alone—find your people! Joining a community of like-minded crafters can spark new ideas, offer helpful feedback, and keep you inspired. Whether it’s a local meetup or an online group, sharing your passion makes creating even more rewarding.

Quick Tip Tuesday - Vellum

 Have you ever considered using vellum in your paper projects?

Vellum is a semi-translucent paper with a smooth, slightly frosted sheen.  Vellum adds a touch of elegance to your paper projects and can be used for a variety of projects such as invitations, journaling, cards, and much more.  It creates beautiful layers, a touch of sophistication, and contrasts well with regular cardstock. It comes in white and other colors and a few different weights.

Here is the tip:  When using adhesive with vellum, use sparingly and only place adhesive in areas that will be hidden such as behind embellishments or layers.  Adhesive will show through the vellum as pictured below.  These are decorations for clothespins that can be used to clip things together.

Make sure it is covered so it won't show through. 

The one on the left has some adhesive showing through even though most of it was covered, but the one on the right looks great (it is at an angle).

Quick Tip - How to Choose a Craft

 
One way to choose which type of craft you want to do is to consider what mood you want to create.  Here are some examples.

• Relaxing & Meditative: Knitting, crochet, embroidery, watercolor

• Creative & Expressive: Painting, sculpting, mixed media

• Functional & Practical: Sewing, woodworking, leather crafting

• Quick & Satisfying: Paper crafts, candle making, air-dry clay projects

Yes, there are other things to consider such as cost, time investment, and your current skills, but this is a place to start.  Happy crafting!
